The Enzymatic Production Lines group opened its doors in October 2015 in the Dept. of Biochemistry of the University of Kassel. Our laboratory is interested in developing enzymatic cascades, the oriented immobilization on novel nanomaterials and the assembly of these immobilizates into functional metabolic pathways in vitro. Currently we are working on the methylation of natural products with enhanced bioactivity, using SAM-dependent methyl transferases. As a side project the in vitro regeneration of the costly S-adenosyl methionine cofactor and adenosine triphosphate are also targeted.
We are open to collaborations, if the topic is appealing to you. Any interested students should contact me directly for a possibility for Thesis topics.
